The meeting happened when Governor Makinde was observing the mandatory one-year youth corp service in Portharcourt sometime in 1990. He was young and fresh from the university then. He graduated from UNILAG at 23. He served at Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC). They were later to court for seven years before getting married. Since then, it has been from glory to glory for Makinde and his wife. Their love has kept waxing stronger. They have also been able to build an empire and a strong family.
Apart from being husband and wife, so close is Makinde and his wife that they discuss practically everything. They are gist partners. They are loving and adorable couple. No wonder when they wanted to start having children, it was deliberated upon, as revealed by Governor himself in an interview with City People. While Makinde wanted just a child, the wife voted for two. But interestingly, the story changed when their first two children were girls. The wife wanted more, particularly a male child.
