Exposed!!List of Nigerian governors who have tested positive and negative for coronavirus

Top political leaders across the world, influential businessmen, respected sportsmen and women, entertainers and the general masses have all been infected with COVID-19.

Nigeria’s case is not different as well. Since the confirmation of the index case via an Italian on Thursday, February 27, top political leaders in the country have tested positive for the virus.

After President Muhammadu Buhari’s chief of staff, Abba Kyari tested positive for COVID-19 days after returning from Germany, the entire political leadership became worried and had to start testing for the virus.

The position of the chief of staff is very crucial, indicating that many political leaders might have met with Kyari after his Germany trip and got exposed to the virus.

The COVID-19 test became important for the governors after one of them, whom they were exposed to during a meeting, later tested positive for the virus.

So far, three state governors have tested positive for the virus. They are:

1. Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state

Governor Mohammed was the first Nigerian governor to test positive for the virus.

Mukhtar Gidado, the senior special assistant to Governor Mohammed on media, confirmed the development on Tuesday, March 24.

Governor Mohammed had earlier gone into self-isolation and decided to take the test after it was established that he had contact with the son of former vice president Atiku Abubakar who had earlier tested positive for the virus.

2. Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state

Governor El-Rufai on Saturday, March 28, also announced that he tested positive for coronavirus.

The governor, who made the disclosure in a statement he issued in Kaduna, has since gone into self-isolation.

3. Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state

In the evening of Monday, March 30, Governor Makinde announced that he has also tested positive for coronavirus.

Makinde, who was the head of the Oyo COVID-19 task force, said he had handed over his duties in charge of the task force to the former chief medical director, University College Hospital (UCH), Professor Temitope Alonge.

In the meantime, he said he would continue to self-isolate, expressing hope that he would recover fully.
